New Zealand Maritime Museum

Auckland’s beloved Maritime Museum has been known for its brilliant showcase of our rich maritime history and unique South Pacific Nation identity. The museum’s learning programme has also been a beacon of the education sector providing school curriculum-linked classes on-site daily, which assists learners to wonder, explore, and experience various hands-on workshops.

Pacific Environments was extremely privileged to design the education room refurbishment to provide better acoustic performance, multi-media learning capabilities, and a multi-functioning space in the existing premises. The objective was to expand learning opportunities and offer versatile space that benefits educators and the mainstream public.

Carefully selected materials, textures, and patterns subtly hint at the nautical theme in the interior space leading the occupants to imagine the movement of seawater, the robustness of wooden ships and the terrane of vast landscapes.
