Matakana Four Square refurbishment

Nestled on the east coast, just an hour north of Auckland’s city centre, the newly refurbished Four Square building in Matakana, is providing locals with a public focal point; a place to pause, meet and chat.

Pacific Environments Architects was approached to design a facade for an extension to the Four Square building in Matakana. The desire was for a durable building that spoke to the existing urban heritage, whilst also being whimsical and fun. The façade had to house, and make feature of, the existing post-office boxes. This was reinforced by the addition of an exterior clock face – creating a public building that adds to the Matakana village.

Beautifully constructed by the team at Legacy Construction using bricks from The Brickery, you’ll find an intricate and vibrant brick veneer façade which both fits within and builds upon, the unique urban heritage of the Matakana village.
