Dockside Retail Development

Situated at the gateway of the Whitianga Waterways, the overarching vision for the entire development, upon completion, is to offer a diverse range of retail and commercial activities in the waterway region, complemented by attractive public spaces in a maritime setting for the enjoyment of the residents. Stage 1 marks the initiation of this development, providing restaurant and office spaces.

Designed as unassuming boat sheds, the building is clad in dark stained timber and sheet metal, this rugged exterior blends in nicely with the surrounding costal environment. The interior speaks a light industrial tone with its exposed steel structure, complimented by the warm timber sarking on the ceiling, creating a haven for the visiting patrons.

The modular structure of the sheds allows future expansions in the same design language, while the remaining land remains available for community events and local farmer’s markets. Colourful floating canopies extend gracefully from the building, these banner-like elements give a distinctive identity to these boat sheds and will be intensified as the developments grows into maturity.
