Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre School
The school at the Mangere Refugee Resettlement Centre is part of the MOE portfolio and as the centre was being rebuilt, the school also needed to be rebuilt. The existing school was a collection of relocatable classrooms that had been added to the site over the years. However their placements were in the way of the redevelopment proposals of the main build, which was being handled by the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE). In Phase 1 of this project we were asked to move all of the existing buildings on site, during the intake breaks, to clear the site for the MBIE project. At the same time we were designing new open plan flexible learning spaces based on a transportable ideology to be brought in during Phase 2.
Both phases of the project are now complete, having been a successful design-build project with Downer Construction.
