The Botanic Retirement Village Apartments
The Nikau apartments is first of several apartment buildings within the Botanic Retirement Village in Silverdale. It holds 32 apartment units across 4 floors, offering a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom typologies for the independent living residents.
The building is mainly constructed with pre-cast concrete and Post-Tension Floor slabs due to the material’s robustness and longevity. The façade is further articulated with relief patterns and balcony shrouds to reduce visual dominance towards surrounding villas. These shroud elements also provide privacy, shade and shelter to increase the usage of the balcony spaces.
The entry experience is airy and light thanks to the double height lobby space and this is further articulated by the shadows from the mesh screen over the entry glazing. This is repeated on each floor to ensure that the residents are always close to natural light.
Universal design principles are integral to the building design, level entry, extra wide corridors, spacious bedrooms, wireless emergency systems and supports for grab rails are all built in to future proof these apartment units.
