Palm Grove Village

The brief was for a Retirement Village that would be different from the usual product available on the market. There was also the opportunity to reflect the unique and outstanding beachside location. The 76-apartment village needed to appeal to future residents rather than those who have occupied retirement villages in the past.

Inspiration was drawn from the successful Seaside development in Florida, a popular holiday and retirement destination designed to evoke seaside resort towns of the past. Gable roof forms and board and batten cladding accentuated with sections of coastal pastel colours help to humanise the scale of a large building within a suburban residential setting.
